The City Club of San Francisco

What began 10+ years ago as minor design updates and tweaks has since developed into a trusted, ongoing partnership. The historic City Club of San Francisco knows the value of marketing—the club not only survived but thrived during the deepest recession of its 32-year history.

Over the last decade, we have helped to evolve the club’s marketing and print advertising—starting with its website. We designed a site that highlights the beauty and uniqueness of this San Francisco Art Deco gem with a voice to match. And with spectacular interiors, it wasn’t hard to find the right hooks. A refresh to the club’s identity gave us an opportunity to pull beautiful details from the club’s architecture. From there, it had what we call legs.

The Type of Old Broadway

We rarely consciously take notice of the swarm of words and letters on buildings or signage anymore. Yet inextricably linked to how we communicate and nearly invisibly infused into our culture is type design. Take a walk down one of the most famous avenues in the world and see an entire new story told by Author Gabriella Garcia as she treats us to a fascinating and thorough review of 13 miles of type faces along Broadway.

CNY8 : Year of the Sheep Party

Our 8th annual Chinese New Year bash was wooly and wild. Thanks to all that flocked to our studio to partake. This year we finally managed to find the right balance of General Tsao’s chicken to Dragon Punch and didn’t run out of the latter and have to give out the former on the street at 4am.

Recognition : 2014 Davey Awards

The Davey Awards exclusively honor the “Davids” of creativity, the finest small firms, agencies and companies in the world. David defeated the giant Goliath with a big idea and a little rock—the sort of thing small firms do each year. The annual International Davey Awards honors the achievements of the “Creative Davids” who derive their strength from big ideas, rather than big budgets. With nearly 4,000 entries from across the US and around the world, the Davey Awards honors the finest creative work from the best small firms, agencies and companies worldwide. The Davey Awards is sanctioned and judged by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts, an invitation-only body consisting of top-tier professionals from a “Who’s Who” of acclaimed media, advertising, and marketing firms.
